With heavy hearts, we share the sad news that Island favorite Sheeela has passed away at 15½ years old. You may have seen Sheeela out enjoying the neighbors and our island park with her faithful humans, Joe and Cyndi Englebrecht of 40th Street.
Sheela was a great dog who loved to go on long walks to get coffee every day here in Newport Beach. She also enjoyed staying and playing in her desert house. Friendly and outgoing, she loved human companionship, treats, and petting.
The Englebrecht family spelled her name with 3 E’s because they found her in Joe’s company’s yard (Triple E Machinery Moving) when she was just a year old. She was wandering around the yard when son Ben drove up in a golf cart to rescue her. Sheela jumped up into the golf cart, laid her head on his lap, and she was part of the family from that moment forward.
Sheela was the epitome of the saying “Love is a four-legged word.” Her family, friends, and treat-givers miss her terribly.
